"Gilmore Girls" is quite well-known for being a highly literary show. Right from the pilot episode, at least one or two books (and authors) are mentioned or seen per episode. Unlike many shows in which reading = nerdy, many characters are presented as bookish on this show, which simply makes them more intelligent and interesting, and does not instantly turn them into a nerd. Rory is the most consummate reader: a lover of the written word, she devours books throughout the series and bonds with others through literature. These people include the rebellious Jess, who loves to read despite his tough exterior, her grandfather, Richard, and classmate Paris, who respects Rory's intelligence. This page is my attempt to chronicle all the books mentioned and seen on the show. It will serve as a reference tool, a great way to find new books to read, and a great example of the ways that "Gilmore Girls" sets itself apart from the pack.
